Minecraft – Hull City of Culture Edition

As part of the Hull City of Culture initiative and as a way of getting more young people engaged in ICT, PrimaryTec challenged several Hull and East Riding primary schools to recreate some of the city’s landmarks using Minecraft as the platform – and we were one of them.

Minecraft is a popular computer game in which you dig (mine) and build (craft) different kinds of 3D blocks within a large make-believe world of varying terrains and habitats and our children love it.

We were tasked with the research and creation of Hull Minster and we had to draw upon all our geographical, historical and mathematical skills and apply them to ICT, to create lifelike representations of their landmark. It also involved a lot of teamwork and cooperation. PrimaryTec visited us to check on our progress and offer additional support.

The final finished version was showcased at the award ceremony where we won third overall, first for teamwork and Spencer was our best individual Minecrafter.
Well done everyone!
