Sports Premium grant expenditure report for parents
What does PE and Sports mean at Acre Heads?
We believe that active, healthy learners will have positive attitudes towards themselves and their learning. Participation in high quality physical education develops confidence and self-esteem.
PE has a central part to play in the learning and development of all our children and is a high profile part of our curriculum, contributing to health, wellbeing and self-esteem of our school community.
We believe in a holistic approach to the development of sport and physical activity for all. Encouraging collaboration and partnership is important to us to make the best use of resources and enhance PE and sport provision in order to raise participation and achievement for all children. PE and sport is taught both by school staff and external providers.
What extra-curricular clubs run at Acre Heads?
Our main sporting clubs run seasonally and at any one time in the year may include:
Football, tag rugby, hockey, Zumba, multi-skills, athletics. We often offer other short term clubs, e.g. in the past we have run judo, skateboarding, netball, cheerleading and basketball clubs as we like to take advantage of stakeholders’ interests and abilities.
However, we do like to concentrate more on quality of a few core sports in order to gain confidence in general team and ball skills.
We also provide a variety of break time physical games and activities.

- PE teaching is subject to the usual monitoring by subject leaders.
- Governors monitor the PE provision through LEGO (Leaders and Governors) meetings and through monitoring the School Improvement Planning:
The Staff and Governors feel that PE is a subject well taught and well planned for at Acre Heads. The children enjoy their sports. The strength of our PE provision is that while we develop skills and competitiveness, we also differentiate and allow PE to be a fun and enjoyable subject for children of all capabilities. We use expert coaching and welcome opportunities to play games with other schools. We are particularly proud that we provide for local Pre-schools to use our facilities to enhance their own physical development as we feel this benefits the community of Anlaby.
We like to inspire our ‘sporty’ children by encouraging competition, celebrating their out of school achievements and welcoming professional teams and sportspersons into school at every opportunity. We involve ourselves with local sports teams and follow their success as a school.
