Report by Mrs Redfearn

Year 2 spent an amazing day at Normanby Hall on Tuesday exploring the beautiful woodland environment.

We had the opportunity to look at a variety of habitats and identified many of the different trees and plants. We saw lots of birds and animals including red deer, peacocks and squirrels and found and discussed bat boxes.

We were introduced to the story of ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ as part of our literacy work.

The highlight of the day for most children was the fire making activity. We discussed fire safety and worked in teams to collect suitable fuel for our fires. Then dozens of mini Ray Mears did their best to produce sparks to light the fires using fire sticks. All that was missing were the marshmallows.

Well done Year 2, you were fab!
